The Chitose Lake Shikotsu Hyobaku Festival is one of the most popular winter events in Chitose City.
Lake Shikotsu is one of the most beautiful lakes in Japan and has been ranked the best water quality in Japan for 11 consecutive years.
Lake Shikotsu has the same circumference as the Yamanote Line and is as deep as the Tokyo Tower.
The main attraction of the Chitose Lake Hyobaku Festival is the various objects created by spraying the lake water.
The objects glow in a blue color called “Lake Shikotsu Blue” during the daytime and are illuminated in a variety of colors at night, creating a world apart from the ordinary.
